Q. I needed my password to install an app.  My admin password wasn’t recognised and then when I put it to sleep, I couldn’t wake it because I had, apparently the wrong password.

A. Did you have caps lock on? Num lock?

Q. I have difficulty getting to my iPod Touch from my Computer – getting photos on to the iPod Touch

A. Other Apps are available… iTunes not required (PhotoSync). Check the tabs in iTunes when you plug it in. Go you Google, and type video and moving photos to iPod Touch.

Q. I have lost Save As.

A. That’s a feature! Try clicking Option/Alt. Upgrade Pages to 4.3 and your Mac OS to Mountain Lion.

Q. Trying to put together a subtitled video.  It is better to pick the transcript option or to type it in (in Youtube).

A. Youtube transcripts are rubbish…

Q. Is it better to go to Google to get instructions than to go to help?

A. Absolutely and emphatically, especially YouTube.

Q. I’m using Snow Leopard.  I put Mountain Lion on a spare partition.  How do I get Mountain Lion to utilise my home directory on Snow Leopard.

A. I don’t know how, but it is possible using voodoo (Directory Services). Google it and look on Youtube. Look in User Accounts and Advanced Settings. Try SuperDuper to duplicate Snow Leopard then upgrade it in place.

Q. Apple’s manuals are disappearing…!

A. Google them.

Q. Time Capsule…

A. It gives options to not back up.  Avoid this as it makes restores very difficult.

Q. Any common mistakes to avoid when restoring a Time Machine to an external hard drive.

A. Do not just copy and paste, it will be unusable. Doing it properly is slow.  Google “moving time machine back up to a different drive”.  Guide is buried in the Apple forums.
